1 Reason I Would Give To Convince Myself To Write Everyday
Writing consistently isn’t tough. It is painstaking to revolt against your own nature.
I have been writing on and off for years but joining the ship30 for 30 cohort made me realise one thing — Writing consistent isn’t tough. Bringing yourself to the blank cursor and writing well consistently to hold attention is very tough.
So, here’s the 1 reason I would give you if you wanted to pursue a consistent writing habit and a reason I tell myself every day before I sit to write:
Write To Learn
Being at a crossroads in a career means a need to explore.
I have consistently managed to keep a job for the last 15 years. It baffles me, but then it is very simple. I keep getting through the yearly reviews with the intention to learn about myself and learn more about my craft.
It has kept me going for so long and might I add successfully at it.
What is it about writing that drives me?
When I read through a book or any piece of article, I look forward to learning something new. If not that, At least I expect to be entertained.
I am starting to apply the same to my writing.
Every time I sit to write, I challenge myself to learn about the topic to the point where I look to keep myself entertained when I go back to read it.
If it didn’t keep me, the author, hooked for those 200-odd seconds, I cannot expect the readers to spend their precious seconds on my writing.
With this trick, it’s been 45 days that I have written everyday and everytime learnt a bit more about myself and the topic. What is writing, if not tricking your brain to be expert at one topic at a time!
